I went cycling for a winery trip with my new bicycle in Sonoma county last weekend. There were some troubles during the trip, but we really had fun.
Missing the ferry
Firstly, we were going to meet at the SF Ferry Building at 11 a.m. on Saturday, but we were too late to take the ferry going to Vallejo. However, one of us found that the ship stopped at Pier 39 at 11:20 which is 10 minutes away by bike. Fortunately, we were able to catch the ferry in time before it left.
Stopped by a highway patrol
We followed the exact bike route Google Map suggested from Vallejo to the cottage we rented on Airbnb. Suddenly, a highway patrol sirened at us when we were about to get to Napa county. We were wondering why there were lots of broken pieces on the ground, and the cars were driving so fast. As a matter of fact, the way we were going, whose speed limit was 60 mph, allows only cars to run. Luckily, we were just warned of the risks of cycling there. He kindly told us the right way. We should have double-checked if our route was bicycle friendly. On Saturday night, we joined together with another group to have dinner.
Hiring a U-Haul
It was rainy on Sunday. We got poured on on the way to a winery and could barely make it there. It was still showering after taking a rest, so we gave up cycling and decided to hire a U-Haul. We went to a famous burger restaurant by the U-Haul. The burger was good. It was also nice that some bands played music in the restaurant. Then we headed to San Francisco.
We missed our ferry, were stopped by a highway patrol, and drove a truck instead of cycling, but in the end, we had a lot of fun.
